Elecronic Voice Phenomena (Can they hear us)
Tonight I would like to discuss what we call Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVP for short. What this is in a nutshell, is any sound or disembodied voice that cannot be heard through normal hearing. These sounds do appear however, on recording devices. Most common of these devices is a digital audio recorder. In the course of our research, evp's can be some of the most compelling evidence we can obtain in order to prove the possible existence of an entity. A typical evp session consists of sitting down with your recording device and quietly listening and asking a series of questions. What you are looking for is responses to those questions. Maybe not direct responses to certain questions, but at least and indicator that someone is trying to communicate. When doing these sessions, it's very important to pose your question and then pause before the next question, this gives time for any responses. EVP's are especially helpful if they can corroborate a client's story.

What Is The Paranormal?
The Webster Online Dictionary defines the paranormal as "Seemingly outside normal sensory channels" or "Not in accordance with scientific laws". What this means to me putting it simply is anything that cannot be readily explained by conventional means. This basic premise is another reason I decided to pursue investigating the paranormal. I want to learn all I can, and experience these phenomena for myself. Some people who do not believe in the paranormal, are those who are not willing to look beyond scientific or as the definition stated "normal" senses. If a logical explanation is not available then the phenomena simply does not exist. This notion is interesting to me, because part of being an investigator is being somewhat of a doubting skeptic. Being a skeptic, allows you to go into an investigation free of preconceived ideas and images that would otherwise cloud the data you have collected. On the other hand one must be willing to go into any investigation with an open mind. When it comes down to it, I believe you must be willing to be on both sides of the fence when it comes to unexplained phenomena.

Paranormal Investigations
What first got me interested in the paranormal, was the interest in finding answers to some very interesting questions. Why do entities stay on earth instead of moving on? What binds them to a certain person or place? These and other questions while being difficult to answer, are worth the time and effort it takes to research. As it stands, not a lot is known about spirits and paranormal activity as a whole. Are there truly haunted houses out there? We will never know for sure, but by putting in the time to read, understand, and do the research, we as investigators are hoping to shed some light, and bring answers to these questions.
